Lightning

Hey everyone.

It took me ages standing out on the balcony this evening to get this video but I think it was worth it just for the last 3 seconds or so.....

I love lamp

I saw these lamps on a Sunday walk around Toronto and I thought they were fab.

They are part of this building on the right.

The whole building is pretty cool actually.

Apparantly its residential. Yes please, I want to live here. Not bad considering it was built in the 80's (1988)

The Apartment

We live here. In this fabulous palace of a building. Its not much to look at but in fairness to it, the balconys have all been replaced since the Google Mobile was here.

We have a one bed apartment and the floor plan looks a little bit like this (check out my great skills with paint!)

This was on our first night here. We've been picking up bits of furniture and things as we go along.

You may be wondering why I am posting this. Well, over the next few months we hope to do some DIY jobs around the place to make it less clinical and more homely. I'm going to post pictures of any interesting things we do as we get them done or any ideas we come up with. Wish me luck....

Toronto Comic Arts Festival - TCAF

I mentioned that we had a really busy weekend last weekend. As well as spending a day in High Park we also visited TCAF, Toronto Comic Arts Festival, held in Toronto Reference Library. So a comic con then!

Conor loves this online comic about some kind of potato bear, beartato, and some other guys. So he got to talk to its creator (as much as you can talk to a very shy comic artist, that is but he was lovely) and he was good enough to do a cute drawing for us.

Some of the artist were charging for their drawings but Anthony Clark was so nice and was doing drawings for fans for free, which was very fortunate for us since we were a little light in the cash department. I did splash out on the cute badges though. We're going to frame them and hang them on the wall above the, as yet unbought, desk. I'll post pics when we get it done.

I wasn't that pushed about going but I ended up really enjoying it. The smell wafting from many of the attendees was a little off putting, I'll admit, but apart from that I liked it. We watched "Paul" that evening to keep the theme going.

(Did I manage to conceal my lack of knowledge about comic books in this post?)

High Park Cherry Blossoms

Conor had been keeping an eye on a website that was monitoring the porgress of the cherry blossoms in High Park in Toronto and this weekend just gone we finally got to see them.

It was such a great day for it. For the first time this year I went out without a coat! I took some pics to share here.

I was excited to see these geese because they are something you would find in zoos in Ireland with a plaque telling you they are native to Canada so I feel seeing them actually in Canada has added to my Canadian experience. Now all I need to find is a wild bear and a wild moose and my life is complete.

This tree had a big ole rotten hole in the middle.

We finished off the visit with a walk around the rest of the park.

I don't know where I took this picture but I just love the front door on this house. Super cute.

We didn't see any coyotes but we did see this lil guy. What is this? A chipmunk?

(Makes you wonder would a hungry coyote not be a bigger worry than a fed one?)

We had some great news this week. Conor got a job! So after our walk in the park we went to get some dinner and drinks to celebrate. The limo wasn't for us though.

Easter Decor

Lots of the houses in Toronto have these gorgeous Easter wreaths on their doors. Definitely want to get one for us for next year. (I don't care that we live in an apartment and the only people seeing it will the the 4 apartments immediately outside our door! I really want one.)

They're so cute and happy and they just scream springtime and happiness.
