A Beautiful Dressing Table

I need a fabulous dressing area. At the minute my makeup, jewellery and hair things are all in various parts of the house, from the living room through to the bathroom and then even more in the bedroom. I really need a spot where I can keep everything together.

So I've been dreaming......

.....and hubby said he might treat me. Hehe!

I did find one that I love. I'll post the pics tomorrow. I think it deserves a post all of its own.

Ebay, All the Way.

For people looking to save a few bucks on their wedding, I just wanted to recommend ebay.

We got so many things for our for very little money.

We got led night lights for our lantern pew ends (safety first kids!)

We also got stemtex (not to be confused with the popular explosive substance with a similar name) for doing the flower arranging with.

But we also got ribbon. Lots and lots of ribbon.

We got this green polyester for the cars and outside the church (bows constructed thanks to my sister and her boyfriend)

We got this lovely wide navy polysatin for the bouquets and pew ends.

And lastly my favourite. This navy and white polka dot for the buttonholes and place settings.

If you're thinking of picking up some things on ebay, I say go for it. Also, if any needs some stemtex I find myself in possession of about 10 rolls too many. It takes about a roll and a half for a wedding apparantly.

Lightning

Hey everyone.

It took me ages standing out on the balcony this evening to get this video but I think it was worth it just for the last 3 seconds or so.....

Purple and Red Wedding

Sorry I've been away for a few days. Theres been a few things going on keeping me distracted.

Today was a bank holiday in Ontario (not sure about the rest of Canada) so I spent a lot of the day on . When I have a bit of time on my hands I like to spend time replying to peoples wedding colour dilemmas. This was todays one.

"Hey Guys,
Just wondering what your thoughts would be on this, Im planning a Christmas wedding, but want it to be a bit differnt to the norm. The church where i am getting married always has red & white flowers for christmas, but i wanted a purple theme! I was thinking of perhaps putting one of my bridesmaids in a purple dress, and the other in the same dress, but in red! Would i be mad or do you think it would be a good idea!??"

I had a think about it and this was the reply I came up with. Basically red and purple colour scheme gets the thumbs up from me.

"Purple is the most popular colour for bridesmaids at the minute so I think its a great idea to mix it with an unexpected colour like red. Red and purple would make a great colour scheme for a winter wedding."

"That said though I think mixing bridesmaids dresses usually works better with more than 2 bridesmaids."

"I would probably go with your original idea of purple for the bridesmaids and add in red in the flowers."

"Say the church flowers were something like this."

"I'd ask your florist to add in purple flowers, baubles or ribbons to the existing arrangements to tie in your bridesmaids."

"Then have the rest of the flowers in red and purple."

I love lamp

I saw these lamps on a Sunday walk around Toronto and I thought they were fab.

They are part of this building on the right.

The whole building is pretty cool actually.

Apparantly its residential. Yes please, I want to live here. Not bad considering it was built in the 80's (1988)

Blackboard Wall

Theres this wall.

This wall is in the middle of the apartment. It creates a kind of separation between the kitchen and the rest of the living area. One of the ideas we were thinking of for this wall was a blackboard wall. I have yet to find a place that sells blackboard paint though.

The Apartment

We live here. In this fabulous palace of a building. Its not much to look at but in fairness to it, the balconys have all been replaced since the Google Mobile was here.

We have a one bed apartment and the floor plan looks a little bit like this (check out my great skills with paint!)

This was on our first night here. We've been picking up bits of furniture and things as we go along.

You may be wondering why I am posting this. Well, over the next few months we hope to do some DIY jobs around the place to make it less clinical and more homely. I'm going to post pictures of any interesting things we do as we get them done or any ideas we come up with. Wish me luck....

Toronto Comic Arts Festival - TCAF

I mentioned that we had a really busy weekend last weekend. As well as spending a day in High Park we also visited TCAF, Toronto Comic Arts Festival, held in Toronto Reference Library. So a comic con then!

Conor loves this online comic about some kind of potato bear, beartato, and some other guys. So he got to talk to its creator (as much as you can talk to a very shy comic artist, that is but he was lovely) and he was good enough to do a cute drawing for us.

Some of the artist were charging for their drawings but Anthony Clark was so nice and was doing drawings for fans for free, which was very fortunate for us since we were a little light in the cash department. I did splash out on the cute badges though. We're going to frame them and hang them on the wall above the, as yet unbought, desk. I'll post pics when we get it done.

I wasn't that pushed about going but I ended up really enjoying it. The smell wafting from many of the attendees was a little off putting, I'll admit, but apart from that I liked it. We watched "Paul" that evening to keep the theme going.

(Did I manage to conceal my lack of knowledge about comic books in this post?)
